Hopefully Laura will take some pictures soon for all of us to see the beautiful location of her base. But in the mean time, she advised me to do a search on Google for "FOB Shield". My attempt gave me a good glimpse into what she is experiencing. I did see one picture of a heavily guarded checkpoint (probably the entrance) that would intimidate anyone (which made me feel good).
Also... on Laura's Sunday the base put together a picnic and activities day for the troops there (Laura included of course) where they played volleyball and had steaks cooked on a grill. Apparently, the food there is quite good and the steaks were right in line with the other food at the base. It was comforting to know that the leaders at her base are putting in real effort to make the experience as nice as is possible.
