The clock has started. The big trek up to her base took place last night and she arrived safely this morning (her time). Via a C-130 her unit (with another unit or 2 from what it sounded like) flew over Iraq into Baghdad without incident thanks to the great flying of our Air Force pilots. She is a bit tired (thanks to 2 hours of sleep last night), but she has moved into her housing (which sounds relatively nice and includes her own bathroom) so she will have a great chance to catch up on her sleep tonight.
In addition, the mail question sounds like its been answered. Mail is delivered two times per WEEK, so don't hesitate to send her letters, notes, goodies, etc. I mailed some stuff last week, so when I hear it has arrived I will give an update as to an expected ETA for mail.
She has not taken any pictures yet (despite getting her a new camera for the experience), but she did say that she saw the Tigris river and the crossing swords monument in Baghdad (along with some camels and funny looking goats). Hopefully when she does get a chance to take pictures, I will be able to get a few and post them here for all to see.
